City of Helsinki employment seekers services that require registration to sign in offers the City’s employment services electronically to independent customers.
We provide tools to make job seeking easier as well as courses and education to improve your chances of finding a job.
You can enroll our online services if:
- you reside in Helsinki,
- you receive unemployment benefit from Kela (labour market subsidy = työmarkkinatuki) and,
- you know enough Finnish to understand instructions and websites in Finnish.
You can check your unemployment benefit from Kela yourself or fill in the sign up form so we will check it and get back to you.
If you do not speak Finnish yet, we can help you to attend a Finnish language test and courses.
City of Helsinki employment seekers services that require registration to sign in are available only in Finnish and we don’t currently offer personal counselling.
You will have access to a course and training calendar. You can then sign up directly to different kinds of short courses according to your own interests and goals (e.g. IT courses, hygiene pass, security guard license). The courses are free of charge.
You can also apply for financial support for any paid course, training or studies that increase your possibilities of finding a job.
If you need to improve your Finnish to find a job, you can sign up for a free language test and/or course by sending your information to our Finnish language contact person. We offer courses both for beginners and more advanced levels.
You will have electronic access to the City’s pay-subsidized job and work try-out listings. You can browse the positions on your own. The positions are reserved only for the unemployed in Helsinki. You will also find information on recruiting events and job postings from companies and organizations that co-operate with the City.
If chosen for a pay-subsidized job at the City, you can begin work after an approval from the TE Office.
You can use the Helsinki subsidy in your job search to encourage employers to recruit you. An employer can apply for financial aid (Helsinki benefit) from the City when they recruit you. The Helsinki benefit encourages employers to offer jobs and hire long-term unemployed persons. It makes your job search easier especially when looking for employment in the “hidden job markets”.
You can book an appointment with our study advisor who will help you to discover different education opportunities and options. We also provide counselling about apprenticeship training (oppisopimus).
